8 Fall Season Skincare Tips

What Happens To Our Skin In The Fall Season?

In the fall season, humidity levels drop down towards zero, which means less sweating. This causes the skin to become dry, dull and flaky which, if not attended to, can lead to patches and cracks that may even bleed. The colder the climate, the drier the skin can get.
Don’t worry if you see the first falling leaves of the Autumn season because if you follow these easy skincare tips, you surely can keep your skin glowing in the fall season.

1. Invest In A Hydrating Cleanser

Just like we switch up our clothes, we need to update our skincare for the appropriate season which is why it’s time for a moisture-rich or hydrating cleanser that will cleanse your skin along with providing it the right amount of moisture it needs to stay supple and healthy.

2. Moisturize, Moisturize, And Moisturize

We cannot emphasize how much you need to moisturize as the fall season approaches. The fall season strips your skin from the natural moisture it contains and makes it dry and patchy. If you have already dry skin then you need to take more care as cuts and cracks could appear on your skin. If your skin is oily then it will also become dry in the fall. Go for oil-based moisturizers and apply day and night and even in between to keep your skin moisturized and nourished.

3. Do Not Ditch Your Sunscreen

If you think that just because summer is over the sun’s rays aren’t an issue, we have to say: they still are! In fact, the sun’s intensity might even be more in the colder season. Remember the rays of the sun still have the same damaging impact on your skin and can make your skin duller and drier. So go for a moisturizing sunscreen and apply it richly on your skin.

4. Take Shorter Showers

In the fall season, your skin becomes dry and itchy and due to scratching, you may cause it to become red and blotchy. Also, if you have eczema, then it will also intensify in the fall season and lead to itching, cracking of the skin, and bleeding. Long showers and tub soaks can aggravate the dryness and eczema; hence you should take quick showers with lukewarm water and immediately moisturize your face and whole body to seal in the moisture.

5. Turn On Your Humidifiers

Temperatures are not just low outside but they change inside your house as well. You may resort to your central heaters. The heaters draw away all the moisture from your home making the environment drier. Turning on the humidifiers inside your rooms puts the moisture and humidity back in the air which are good for you.

6. Stay Hydrated

Apart from lathering moisturizers on the outside, inner hydration is also very important. Drink more water to make your skin hydrated, healthy and glowing. Also, eat healthy food such as vegetables and hot soups to warm your soul.

7. Exfoliate Your Skin

In summers, humidity causes your skin to sweat causing the skin to get rid of the dirt. When the fall season starts, the skin gets dry and flaky and starts to itch. Exfoliate your skin so that all the dead and dry skin is removed. Your skin will be soft and smooth after you exfoliate.

8. Dress Well

Dress appropriately for the fall season. Make sure your body is completely covered and protected from harmful UV rays. This way you will be protected from the cold and your skin will be less exposed to dryness.
